It’s finally Spring!
Hurray! The flowers are blooming, the trees are greening, and the pollen is,
well, making me sneeze. Even so, it’s my favorite time of year.
Spring reinvigorates me — prodding
me out of hibernation and into rejuvenation. I’m itching (and not just from the
pollen) to get in my garden and plant, to spruce up my porches with brilliant
colored flowers, to cook out in the summer kitchen, and to throw open my porch
doors to the fresh scent of spring.
I give my house and porches a good
spring-cleaning, freshening bed linens, cleaning windows to let
all that
delicious spring sunlight in, and making room for those new Spring clothes. I look forward to wearing strappy
sandals, floral colors, and shorts. And to baring my freshly pedicured feet,
and my newly exfoliated skin.
Spring also prompts me to change
up my menu, setting aside the warm comfort foods of winter for lighter fare
made from the wonderful fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables. Speaking of seasonal fruits and
vegetables, here’s a great recipe for enjoying all that stone fruit readily
available this time of year.
Though the calendar may say it’s
Spring, I know for a good part of the country it’s still the middle of winter.
Hang in there, your time will come – likely when it’s 95 degrees here in sunny,
muggy Florida, and we’re wishing for your soft, spring weather.
